How to run the round

Imposter Game Rules

This version is built for local groups. The app handles setup, private role reveal, timer control, and final role reveal. Players handle clue giving, discussion, and voting face-to-face.

What you need

You need one shared device and 3 to 99 players in the same place.

Referee controls

During game time, the host can pause/resume timer, show or hide role board, and end game when the round is complete.

Round flow

1. Add players

Set player count, select a word theme, choose imposter count, and set duration.

2. Reveal roles

Pass the device in order. Each player privately checks their role card.

3. Play with timer

Give clues and vote face-to-face. Use pause/resume as needed for your group.

4. End game and reveal

When your group decides the round is over, end game and reveal all roles.

Roles

Civilian

You can see the secret word. Give clues naturally and identify imposters during discussion.

Imposter

You only see the category hint, not the exact secret word. Blend in during discussion and avoid suspicion.

Timer tips

  • Unlimited mode is best for casual groups and first-time players.
  • 3 minutes works well for fast rounds and small groups.
  • Use pause when clarifying rules or handling interruptions.
  • Show role board only when the host wants to verify identities.
